Later, Emily begins to experience strange cravings and her body undergoes terrifying changes. That night, the dead rapist walks out of the morgue. When Emily Crane’s car breaks down on a dark, lonely road at night, she is attacked and raped by a man she kills in self-defense. Thank you for reading.Gauntlet is pleased to be publishing Ray Garton’s werewolf novel RAVENOUS (and the sequel BESTIAL). These two books are pretty cheap and really do deserve to be read by horror fans as they are both excellent additions and imaginative deviations of the werewolf myth. Again is is all extremely well written and highly involving and enjoyable. We meet some new characters as well as checking up on some ones from the first book. Suffice to say, I thought this was the better of the two novels and if you liked Ravenous you're sure to love this with more gore, violence, sex, slaughter and a bit of religion thrown in the mix too. I'm not going to say much about the plot of this book because it would give away the ending of the first. A proper old wolves tale.īestial takes up from where Ravenous left off. The writing is tense, the plot taut and the ending unpredictable. It is mature with plenty of gore, violence and sex (including rapes) so maybe not the best for young un's. This is an enjoyable book with a refreshingly new take on the werewolf myth.

A scarred-up werewolf hunter appears, armed with knowledge of the beasts and silver bullets he sets out with the disbelieving sheriff to bring the howlers to heel, but are they both too late. As more people in town become infected, the pile of bodies starts to stack up. In spite of being 'mortally' wounded the werewolf gets up off the autopsy table and runs away leaving the local sheriff baffled and one deputy eviscerated. He attacks one woman and from there all hell breaks loose. In Ravenous, we see a small town brought to ruin by just one werewolf. The wolves in these stories change wherever and whenever they feel like it, and Garten goes into glorious detail at how the sound of cartilage pops and bones snap, fur sprouts and long fangs run with drool and silver eyes glisten and then comes the hunger for fresh blood and the urge for sex.

Also gone is the old 'full moon change' business. Ray Garton takes the fur-ball myth in a new direction in these two books making the thing that turns a human into a werewolf a kind of STD. It has been covered from many angles, some good, some bad, depending on your tastes in horror. The subject of werewolves is a classic in horror.
